Many factors can interfere with the accuracy of thermocouple calibration. Environmental factors come first. Temperature and humidity fluctuations at the calibration site may affect the standard source and the thermocouple to be calibrated, changing their thermoelectric properties. For example, in a high-humidity environment, the insulation layer of the thermocouple gets damp, which may cause leakage and inaccurate measurement. The accuracy and stability of measuring instruments are equally crucial. A low-precision voltmeter cannot accurately read the tiny changes in thermoelectric potential, and an unstable instrument will introduce random errors. The uniformity and aging degree of the thermocouple's own material cannot be ignored. Uneven material will cause local differences in thermoelectric characteristics. For an aged thermocouple after long-term use, its sensitivity decreases and the calibration difficulty increases. In addition, improper human operations, such as touching the thermocouple during calibration and imprecise temperature control, will all lead to deviations in the calibration results. Therefore, strict procedures must be followed in all aspects of calibration.
