The European Proficiency Testing Database (EPTIS) is the world's largest non-profit proficiency testing database. It currently has about 350 proficiency testing providers and more than 3,000 proficiency testing programs from Europe, America, Asia, and Oceania, with an average annual number of registered users exceeding 50,000.
At present, my country has more than 7,000 registered users in EPTIS, ranking first in the world, reflecting the strong demand of Chinese laboratories to participate in proficiency testing. However, since my country has not yet joined the database agreement, the information on my country's proficiency testing activities is not included.
In order to further promote my country's proficiency testing abroad, the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) has applied to EPTIS for membership. EPTIS has officially accepted CNAS's application, and the data entry of proficiency testing activities will be completed within the year. This means that CNAS's proficiency testing data will be shared globally, and CNAS's proficiency testing activities will have a global display platform.
Proficiency testing is an activity that uses inter-laboratory comparisons to determine the capabilities of inspection and testing institutions. CNAS organizes proficiency testing activities and participates in international proficiency testing programs in accordance with internationally accepted requirements such as ISO/IEC17043. Inspection and testing institutions can use proficiency testing as an external quality assurance tool to identify differences with peer institutions and provide information for their own continuous improvement and quality management. Laboratory users, supervision and management agencies, evaluation agencies, etc. can use CNAS proficiency testing results to determine whether inspection and testing institutions have the ability to engage in calibration/testing activities and monitor the continuous status of their capabilities.
