1. CMA is the abbreviation of China Inspection Body and Laboratory Mandatory Approval. Inspection bodies that have obtained laboratory accreditation (metrology certification) certificates can use the CMA logo on inspection (inspection, test) certificates and reports according to the items approved and listed on the certificate.

2. In 2001, the country promulgated the "Metrology Certification/Review and Accreditation (Acceptance) Evaluation Criteria (Trial)", which was implemented on December 1 of the same year and abolished the original evaluation criteria JJG1021-90. The evaluation system followed by metrology certification: "Laboratory Qualification Accreditation Evaluation Criteria", and the provisions of China's metrology legal management were supplemented.

3. Laboratory accreditation (metrology certification) is implemented at two levels. One is organized and implemented by the National Certification and Accreditation Administration; the other is provincial, organized and implemented by the provincial quality and technical supervision bureau, and the specific work is undertaken by the Metrology Certification Office (Metrology Division). Whether it is national or provincial, the effectiveness of implementation is the same. Whether it is national or provincial certification, the certification of the testing institutions is equally legally valid in the whole country, and there is no difference in effectiveness between different handling departments.

4. According to the regulations on metrology certification management, the data issued by the testing institutions that have passed metrology certification are used for trade certification, product quality evaluation, and results appraisal as notarized data with legal effect. It is illegal for technical institutions that have not been metrologically certified to provide notarized data to the society, and violations must be investigated.

5. The testing institutions that have passed metrology certification in China have covered agriculture, fishery, forestry, machinery, post and telecommunications, chemical industry, light industry, electrical engineering, metallurgy, geology, transportation, urban construction and environmental protection, safety protection, water conservancy and other industries and departments, and have opened a relatively complete range of testing categories.
