I. Introduction

In the process of pressure gauge calibration, various problems may be encountered. If these problems are not solved in time, it will affect the accuracy and efficiency of the calibration. This article will analyze the common problems in pressure gauge calibration and propose corresponding solutions to help the calibration personnel better complete the calibration work.

II. Common Problems and Solutions

  1. Unstable Pressure Indication

    • Problem Manifestation: During the calibration process, the indicated value of the pressure gauge fluctuates frequently and cannot be stabilized at a fixed value.

    • Cause Analysis: It may be that the pressure output of the pressure source is unstable, there is leakage or blockage in the pipeline, and the internal parts of the pressure gauge are loose or damaged.

    • Solution: Check the pressure source to ensure its stable pressure output; check the connecting pipeline to exclude the leakage and blockage; if it is an internal problem of the pressure gauge, it is necessary to disassemble the pressure gauge for inspection and repair, such as fastening the loose parts or replacing the damaged parts.

  2. Excessive Calibration Error

    • Problem Manifestation: The error between the indicated value of the calibrated pressure gauge and the indicated value of the standard pressure gauge exceeds the allowable range.

    • Cause Analysis: The standard pressure gauge is inaccurate, the calibration method is incorrect, the environmental factors are affected (such as temperature and humidity are not corrected), and the accuracy of the pressure gauge decreases due to long-term use.

    • Solution: Calibrate the standard pressure gauge or replace it with a more accurate one; reconfirm the calibration method and calibrate strictly in accordance with the operating procedures; control the calibration environment and correct the environmental factors; if the accuracy of the pressure gauge decreases seriously, consider repairing or replacing it.

  3. Pointer Jamming or Jumping

    • Problem Manifestation: The pointer of the pressure gauge jams and cannot rotate smoothly or jumps during the movement.

    • Cause Analysis: There is friction between the pointer and the dial, there are impurities inside the pressure gauge, and the transmission mechanism fails.

    • Solution: Check the clearance between the pointer and the dial, adjust the position of the pointer to keep an appropriate clearance between it and the dial; disassemble the pressure gauge to clean the internal impurities; check the transmission mechanism, such as gears and shafts, and repair or replace the damaged parts.

  4. Zero Drift

    • Problem Manifestation: When there is no pressure input, the indicated value of the pressure gauge is not zero, and the zero offset phenomenon occurs.

    • Cause Analysis: It may be that the spring tube of the pressure gauge is deformed and the elasticity is invalid, or it is affected by impact and vibration during use.

    • Solution: Check and repair the spring tube, such as replacing the spring tube; if the zero drift is caused by impact and vibration, the pressure gauge can be recalibrated and the zero point can be adjusted. During use, try to avoid the pressure gauge from being strongly impacted and vibrated.

III. Preventive Measures

  1. Regularly Maintain and Inspect the Pressure Gauge

    • Formulate a regular maintenance plan, carry out maintenance work such as cleaning, lubricating and inspecting the pressure gauge, and timely detect and handle potential problems.

    • Regularly check the accuracy of the pressure gauge. If the accuracy decreases, calibrate or repair it in time.

  2. Standardize the Operating Procedure

    • The calibration personnel should operate strictly in accordance with the calibration operating procedures to avoid problems caused by improper operation.

    • When installing and using the pressure gauge, pay attention to the correct installation method and the requirements of the use environment to avoid affecting the performance of the pressure gauge due to improper installation or environmental factors.
